Centrifugal Compressor Overhauling Procedure (How To Change The Dry Gas Seal)

OVERHAULING PROCEDURE OF CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSORS:

• First, apply for the work permit, then identify the permit system,  what type of permit (hot work permit, cold work permit, and critical work permit) given and what type of work will be allocated.
• Then inspect the mechanical and electrical isolation. (any of pressure are available inside the pipelines or compressors are analyzed initially and also check any electrical hazards are available nearby compressors).
• I inspect the blinding location as per P&ID (P&ID means PERMIT AND IDENTIFICATION NUMBER)
• Inspect pressure gauge, if the pressure gauge value zero then open the drain valve

• The above all steps you have finished, the next step handle with the to remove coupling guard and coupling spacer

• Then next step is, to remove the coupling with a hydraulic special tool (low pressure and high pressure)

• The next step is to remove the seal, oil accessory piping and instrument probe and accessory
• Inspect all running clearance. (to check the running clearance include the bearing clearance axial and radial) 
• Lock the rotor with a special tool and remove the bearing top housing and bearing.

• Install seal removal tools and remove seals ( single seal, double or tandem seal, dry gas seal, and labyrinth seal)
